Dixie will be holding its Women’s Club Championship starting Friday, April 19 to Sunday, April 21, 2013.  The competition is open to Women’s teams that have played together regularly in Dixie leagues during the current curling season.  The winner qualifies to represent Dixie at the Dominion Curling Club Championship Qualifier in the fall of 2013. Dixie’s Club eligibility is based on the following criteria:

• 4 Players that have played together regularly in a sanctioned club league in the most recent season, excluding Major Leagues or Super Leagues.
• Each team will be allowed only 1 player who has played in a Juniors’, Women’s (Scotties) or Seniors’ provincial/territory event in the current or previous 4 years, or participated in a Grand Slam event in the current or previous 4 years.* (2009, 2010, 2011,2012, 2013)
• Any 3 members from the original team must be available to play in each game during the duration of the event at Dixie.
• One spare per game will be allowed and can play any position except Skip, but cannot play any position higher than the position being filled.  The person sparing can vary each game.
• Each team will be allowed a maximum of 2 players under the age of 20, as of December 31st of the year prior to the championship (minimum age of 15 as of December 31st).
• All games will be 8 ends with ties being decided by a full extra end.
• The format of the event will be determined based on the number of entries.  Before committing your team to this competition please be aware of the following:
• OCA dates & location for Qualifiers, Provincials & Nationals are yet to be determined.
• Costs could be associated with travel and accommodations depending on the location of Qualifiers, Provincials and Nationals.

On Sunday, December 2nd the tradition of the annual Dixie Family Day Bonspiel continued. 110 curlers in two draws vied to put the family name on the Dixie Family Day trophy. In the end this year it was the Leermakers family winning the Bantam/Junior draw and three generations of the Gareau family rose to the challenge to take the Little Rock draw. Along the way, buckets of Kentucky Fried chicken were gobbled down, some curling Bingo was played and Roots Canada was good enough to provide clothing prizes for the many winners on the day. The happy winners are seen below:
