Men’s Leagues

Monday Night Men Choose Your Own Rink (CYOR)

The Monday Night Choose your Own Rink offers men a competitive curling environment. This league operates every Monday evening alternating between 6:50 and 9:10 PM draw times and uses the ladder system to ensure competitive play for each team throughout the year. Team entries are preferred and are limited to the first 30 teams.

Convenor – John Carere

Wednesday Night Regular Men

This Men’s League plays every Wednesday alternating between 6:50 and 9:10 pm. The goal of the Wednesday night men’s league is to provide the best balance of competition, growth, and fellowship in a men’s only league. Members apply on an individual basis and are then placed on a team using a ‘blind draw’ by the skips at the start of each draw. Players are assigned a playing position (lead, 2nd, vice or skip) based on their skill level and indicated preference. Some player re-positioning may be necessary in order to complete teams for each draw. This proven method enhances the social nature of the sport while structuring teams having similar skill levels for spirited play. The league welcomes those curlers who cannot commit to every Wednesday evening to sign up for the spare list.

Day Men’s Curling

The Dixie Curling Club offers various daytime curling opportunities for men of all skill levels – from beginner to advanced. Participants are assigned to a team based on their curling experience and playing ability. The Day Men’s program offers club league curling on Mondays and/or Friday mornings. The curling season for either league is comprised of four draws and playoffs (approximately 24 games). The Wednesday league is comprised of senior men, who elect to sign up, and compete against visiting teams from other clubs. Curlers are invited to sign up for either Monday, Friday, both or all days. The men host four bonspiels throughout the season – The Gord Glazebrook Memorial in November, The Past Presidents in mid-January, the Bert Bertuzzi Memorial Skins Spiel in early February, and The Apple Blossom two-day spiel in mid March.

  • Monday – 10:00 AM and 1:00 PM: There will be a maximum of 24 teams curling Monday mornings and afternoons. All curlers will be placed on teams based on need and rating. All skills levels will be accommodated . There will be 4 or 5 draws per year. Players will change to new teams each draw to achieve balanced competition and maximum exposure for all players.
    Coordinator – Bruce Calder
  • Wednesday (Country Gentlemen) – 1:00 PM: Individuals sign up each week on a sheet posted in the Men’s locker room and positions are filled according to rating.
Coordinator – Don Whiteley, Dave Ashurst
  • Friday – 9:30 AM: There are 3 or 4 draws per year and players are rotated each draw by the draw master. All curlers will be rated and placed on teams based on rating.
